Fishing contest nets 27 anglers

Twin Rivers Fishing Club held itsfirst in-house fishing competition recently and the Macquarie River did not disappoint.

26 members registered and onevisiting member, Caleb Peckham, signed up for the weekend.

A few members they said they have not seen the river fish so good since the curtain was installed a few years ago.

The amount of small Cod caught was great to see with the average size being around 50cm. Of all the fish caught 20 were Cod, 49 Yellow Belly (Bugsy and Dan Stanford caught 35 of them), 15 Redfin, 4 Catfish and 1 Carp.

Dillon Price.

Biggest Cod was 790mm and went to Jared Wykes, followed by runners up Sam McCarrol and Bugsy tied at 575mm. Biggest Yellow Belly went to Mus McCarrol at 504mm and was just ahead of Bugsy by 1mm at 503mm.

First place for Catfish went to Brett Chandler measuring 545mm.Brett actually spun this Catfish up on a lure which is rarely heard of.Runner up was Abra Wilson at 535mm. Bugsy landed the biggest redfin measuring 353mm.

Last but not least, thebiggest carp caught went to visiting member Caleb Peckham measuring 660mm.

Bugsy Ah See showed why he was our 2016 champion angler by landing 28 fish and from what I hear Dan Stanford has been in hospital since Sunday and is looking for a new partner next comp after suffering from stress and heat exhaustion after having to net every fish Bugsy caught.

At our next in-house competition Bugsy will be put on a handicap system where he will be only allowed to fish at night time with no lights.

For anyone not a member but would like to join an in-house compwe havetemporary membership which includes that one comp, costs only $5 for kids and $10 for seniors or for a yearly membership seniors are $30 and juniors under 16 are $20.

Thank you to everyone who signed up on the weekend. We hope to see you at our next competition. The date will be posted on our Facebook page and sent to members via email.
